After 20+ years teaching and playing, I have come to believe that drumming is for everyone. That it is an instinctual part of human life and accessible to all. In my teaching practice I focus on the student building a natural and positive approach, that will continue to grow with them.

I teach core skills and methodologies that draw on the fundamentals and history of traditional drum-set playing, and where appropriate we can integrate elements of Tabla theory and repertoire.

Some areas I like to focus on:

  • Sound and touch

  • Timekeeping and feel

  • Rudimental sticking exercises

  • Interdependence and polyrhythms

  • Analytical listening

  • Tabla basics and theory

  • Integrating diverse percussive approches

These areas of focus are not just for drummers and percussionists but for anyone wishing to develop rhythmic awareness or new approaches on their chosen instrument.

Working with groups and Schools:

Over the years I have given Masterclasses and Talks at several institutions including; Eastman School of music NY, Barcelona Conservatoire, Leeds Conservatoire and University of East Anglia.

I have also worked in several Schools across the UK, both in a peripatetic capacity and as a visiting artist offering drumming classes, workshops, group sessions and one to one tuition. If you are Interested in booking me please head to the contact page.
